Income tax return for salaried people
Income Tax Return Filing for Salaried People
Your employer deducts tax from your salary every month, but that alone does not make you a filer. Filing your return does. We prepare your return and wealth statement, you approve them, and we file on IRIS.
Last date: the return for tax year 2026 is normally due by 30 September 2026. Filed after that, an individual pays a Rs 25,000 surcharge under the Finance Act 2026 to get onto the Active Taxpayer List.
Why salaried people still need to file
Tax deducted by your employer is recorded against your CNIC, but being a filer depends on having a return on record. Until you file, you are treated as a non-filer everywhere else, and you pay the higher withholding rates that come with it on banking, vehicle and property transactions.
For most salaried people, filing does not mean paying more. The return records the income your employer reported and the tax already taken, alongside a wealth statement that lists what you own. If more was deducted during the year than you actually owed, filing is how you claim the difference back.
FBR offers a simplified route for salaried people on IRIS and in its Tax Asaan app, and it works well when one salary is your only income. Rent, a second job, freelancing on the side, property or several bank accounts all add to what has to be declared, and that is where people most often get their wealth statement wrong.

What we take care of
A return that matches your employer
We work from your employer’s tax deduction certificate, so the salary and tax in your return agree with what your employer reported.
A wealth statement that reconciles
Your wealth statement has to add up against your income and spending for the year. We build it carefully so it does not raise questions later.
Refunds where they are due
If more tax was deducted than you owed, we tell you before filing and help you claim it back.
Other income declared properly
Rent, bank profit, a side business or freelance income goes in the right place, so the whole return stays accurate.
What salaried people usually need
Not all of it applies to everyone. After the call we send you a short list of only what applies to you.
- Your CNIC
- Salary certificate or tax deduction certificate from your employer for the tax year
- Bank statements for every account, covering the tax year
- Tax deduction certificates from your bank, if any
- Details of property and vehicles you own, with dates and cost
- A rough idea of your household expenses for the year
- Last year’s return, if you have filed before
Questions people ask
My employer already deducts tax. Do I still need to file?
Yes, if you want to be a filer. The deduction pays the tax, but filing the return is what puts you on the Active Taxpayer List. Without a return you are treated as a non-filer and pay higher withholding on many everyday transactions.
Can I get back tax deducted from my salary?
Sometimes. If more tax was deducted during the year than you owe, filing your return is how you claim it back. We check this before filing and tell you what to expect.
I also have rental income or a small business. Is that a problem?
No, but it has to be declared too. A salaried return with other income is still manageable, it just takes more care, and it is where do-it-yourself returns most often go wrong.
I changed jobs during the year. What do you need?
The tax deduction certificate from each employer. We combine them so the full year’s salary and tax are declared together in one return.

Kya kata hua tax wapas mil sakta hai?
Agar saal mein zaroorat se zyada tax kat gaya ho to return file kar ke woh claim kiya ja sakta hai. Hum filing se pehle check kar ke batate hain.
